COOKING WITH TEA

One of my favorite recipes for cooking with tea is this tea jelly ( jello)

You can use any flavor tea but black teas seem to work best ( stronger  flavor)

Ingredients:  2 cups plus 4 tablespoons of water, 4 teaspoons of black tea, 3 teaspoons of unflavored gelatin, 4 teaspoons sugar, 3 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk, 3 tablespoons half & half cream.

Directions: Sprinkle gelatin over 4 tablespoons of cold water. Heat 2 cups water and steep tea for 5 mins. Strain tea. Add in the gelatin mixture and sugar and stir until dissolved. Pour tea mixture into small bowls. Chill in the refrigerator until set. Combine sweetened condensed milk and half & half cream. Pour a layer of this mixture on the top of each jelly just before serving.

You can change up the taste of this jelly by using a vanilla coffee creamer instead of the half&half or make the “adult” version but substituting the half&half with Bailey’s Irish Cream or similar liqueur.
